American Photographer refocuses Cobh Camera Club

The Cobh Camera Club had a special guest lecture from American photographer Doug Dubois (www.dougdubois.com ) who is currently resident artist at the Sirius Arts Centre. Doug has been seen around Cobh over the last few weeks photographing young people and sometimes their families. He has an innate interest in family groups and published a book on the family he was part of when growing up. The images created cover over 20 years. The narrative of a growing and maturing family comes across very strong. His work in Cobh captured all the elements that have made him so successful in this genre; attention to detail, posture, lighting and above all a non-caricature approach to his subjects. Doug has enjoyed working in Cobh. Many Club members left his talk reassessing their use of the camera, a true indication of the laid back influence of Doug’s mellifluous voice and sharply focused images. Thanks Doug.
