230 competitors togged out for our 4 Mile Race on Thursday 11-Aug, our main fundraiser this year.

Won in a blistering time of 20:23 by Neville Davey of the West Valley Track Club in San Francisco, there were also some notable club club performances on the night.

Brendan Ryan: 10th place overall
Maggie Sillett: 1st place Female Junior
Áine Griffin: 2nd place Female Junior
Tomasz Krawczyk: 1st place Male Junior
Seán Manly Kelly: 2nd place Male Junior
Eimear Taft: 1st place Female 40
Gary Cox: 2nd place Male 40
Ruth Phelan: 1st place Female 50
Anne Burke: 2nd place Female 50
Ann Kelleher: 1st place Female 55

Well done to all and our thanks to the residents and businesses of Cobh for their cooperation and patience during the running of this event.
The Cork Business House Athletic Association (BHAA) Musgrave 5k took place along the Marina by Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Wednesday 17-Aug and we had some stand-out performances yet again:

Lynne Doherty: 2nd place o/45
Mary Histon De Barra: 3rd place o/45 & 2nd place in the C Team section running for the H.S.E.
Tony O’Sullivan: new pb of 20:45
Peter Howie: new pb of 19:36
Shane Meyler: new pb of 18:55
Saturday 20-Aug saw a large contingent of Ballymore Cobh athletes turn out for the East Cork Harbour Half Marathon & 10k races.

Amongst a large field of 431 athletes, Jennifer Goggin-Walsh secured an excellent 2nd place podium finish and equally as good a superb 13th placing overall.

Others running for us on the day were Shane Meyler (18th place overall & 3rd place o/40), Ann Kelleher (3rd place o/55), Anne McKeown, Clair Walsh (debut 10k), Helen Devery, Jill Flaherty (10k debut), Debbie Britton, Bernadette Navin, Bernice Coakley, Laura Holton, Éadaoin Owens, Theresa O’Brien, Jen O’Connor, Carol Leahy, Eucharia Gould, Cathy Coleman and Mary Murphy-Jones.

Congratulations to our ladies team of Jennifer Goggin-Walsh, Ann Kelleher and Anne McKeown who secured 4th place in the Fittest Club Challenge that was incorporated into the 10k race.

The Half Marathon race also had a number of club athletes taking part.

Stephen Pender, Maria Coffey, Stephen Ryan, Sinéad Daly, Niall Kavanagh (HM debut), Kevin Jones, Leilia Pender, Pauline Hannafin and Karen Geasley.

And well done to our ladies team of Maria Coffey, Sinéad Daly and Leilia Pender who secured 4th yet again, this time in the HM version of the Fittest Club Challenge.
