Breaking The Silence has started its series of 2011 Safe Talk Workshops in Cobh and the first of these was very well attended last Thursday at Cobh Convent of Mercy.  27 people came to this training and feedback received was very positive.  The SAFE in Safe Talk stands for Suicide Alertness for Everyone and this free three hour workshop is recognised by the Irish Medical Council.

Before the workshop commenced a group of local young people; Diarmuid Moroney and his cousins Ian and Niamh Halligan presented €150 to Young Breaking The Silence.  This money came from fundraising they did over the Christmas period for the group and it will go towards future initiatives by Young Breaking The Silence.  This is another example of the goodwill that is shown to Breaking The Silence by the local Community including our young people.

Breaking The Silence is a Cobh based voluntary that helps to create a Suicide Safer Community by connecting the person at risk of Suicide with life preserving resources.  The group aims to listen, educate, support and train the community on Suicide.
