Butterfly Ball Raises over €7000 for Irish Cancer Society

Published

On the middle Saturday of July the guys and girls of Butterfly Wings presented Rose O’Dea of the Irish Cancer Society with a cheque for over €7000 for their Night Nurse Programme.  The funds were raised at this year’s Butterfly Ball which took place on Patrick’s Day in The Fota Island Resort. Rose, Night Nurse Eilleen O’Connell and over 150 people took to the dance floor on the night. Sean O’ Brien provided his amazing auctioneering skills, Martina O’Donoghue from C103, was MC again this year and Declan O’Callaghan kindly sponsored the bubbly for the drinks reception.

The committee were delighted with the turn out on the night and the amazing amount raised through people’s attendance and kind donations.  Preparations are already in full swing for next year’s ball on the 2nd March in Fota and it will be a hard task to beat the craic from this year.

The committee would like to thank everyone for their generous support, without which we could not continue to run the ball.  We appreciate how difficult it can be, and are so grateful for all your help and support.  We are also delighted to announce that in the last week we have been granted our registered charity status, which means we’re OFFICIAL!  We would not be able to do the things we do without you.  Thank you all and here’s to the future, we have some very interesting fundraisers in the pipeline, watch this space.
