cobhfilmhubjpgAre you interested in films? Making films, watching films, writing screenplays, editing material or do you just want to hold that big boom microphone! If so then the Cobh Film Hub might be the opportunity you are looking for.

A Film Hub has been established in Cobh with funding support from SECAD to promote and develop film making at all levels within the community.

An OPEN EVENING is being held on Wednesday 29th May from 6pm – 9pm in the Cobh Youth Services building, the Chill on the Hill. Professional standard film making equipment including cameras, microphones and lighting gear will be demonstrated along with the latest editing suite on the Apple desktop. Everyone is invited to attend and there will be forms available to sign up as a
member of the Hub.

Membership costs only €10 and will provide access to trainings and workshops. Chairperson of the Film Hub, James Bilson said “This is a great chance to get access to professional quality equipment, but also to network with people, volunteer on real film shoots and learn a lot about the whole process of making a film.” Further down the line it is hoped to arrange gala showcasing of the creations of the Cobh Film Hub and to link with other Hubs around the country.

The first workshop will be taking place around a real shoot on 22nd June when the Vintage Car rally arrives in Cobh. If you want to learn more about the equipment or to join a film crew then please come along to the open event. People of all ages and skill levels are very welcome.
