Members of Cobh Tidy Towns Committee, volunteers and friends came out in force to celebrate Christmas in style in the Commodore Hotel in Cobh on Saturday night. Despite the weather, virtually everyone made it to “The Christmas Party Night”.
The Commodore Hotel Party Night Recession Busting Package of €35 per person included a mulled wine reception, four course meal, dancing to Cobh’s “The Big Band”, spot prizes and entry to a draw for €1000 in cash!
After enjoying the beautiful meal and dancing to the sounds of the fantastic eight piece band the draw for the €1000 was made.
A number of Tidy Towns members had filled in Cobh Tidy Towns on their tickets in place of their own names and there was great delight when a Cobh Tidy Towns ticket was pulled from the hat.
“The €1000 will be put to good use in 2011”, said Tidy Towns chairman Hendrick Verwey. “The recent announcement of the suspension of The Heritage Council Grants because of budget cutbacks has cut off one source of funds that has allowed us to achieve so much in the past few years. This money will go some way to filling the gap”.
