The news of six deaths following this morning’s plane crash at Cork airport is ‘shocking and devastating’ – Cllr John Mulvihill “I with to extend my deepest sympathies to those who have been bereaved today. It is such a sad and shocking situation,” Cllr Mulvihill said.
It is understood five males and one woman are being treated at Cork University Hospital today (Thursday) following this morning’s Manx2 crash. In total, 12 people were aboard the flight, ten passengers and two crew – a pilot and co-pilot.
“I wish the survivors – some of whom walked off the flight which itself it truly amazing – a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and good wishes are with them,” Cllr Mulvihill said.
“The people of east Cork are devastated, this is the first commercial crash in Cork airport in its 50 year history. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been lost and injured on this sad, sad day.”
“I would like to commend the work of Cork’s emergency service teams, the Gardai, ambulance and fire crews – how difficult it must be for them to have to deal with this shocking accident, yet they carried out their duties with great speed and efficiency,” he said.
Joint investigations into this morning’s plane crash at Cork airport are underway, by the Irish and British aviation authorities.
