justfoodJust Food: One of 9 Cork Food Companies Appearing at the UK’s Biggest Food Industry Event

Cobh based business Just Food is one of nine Cork food producers that are showcasing some of Ireland’s finest fare at the UK’s largest food sector event – Food and Drink Expo 2014.

These innovative Cork food companies are working together at the event under the Taste Cork regional brand supported by Cork County Council and the Cork Enterprise Boards.

Deirdre Hilliard established the Just Food Company in 2004 selling her products from a stall at the Midleton Farmers Market.

The company now operates from a purpose built commercial kitchen in Cobh, Co. Cork and produces a range of organic, handmade food available in supermarkets and restaurants.

The company’s products span a diverse range of fresh organic foods produced using organic ingredients sourced as locally as possible.

Speaking at Food and Drink Expo 2014 Deirdre Hilliard of Just Food said: “Our company started life working along side other local food producers at farmers markets and we have always understood the importance of bringing small producers together.

The taste Cork brand really brings a flavour of what Cork has to offer to an international audience!”

All nine companies have taken part in the First Steps to Food Exports programme funded by Cork County Council and the Cork County & City Enterprise Boards. This innovative training scheme is designed to meet the needs of the food SME sector in the County.

Food and Drink Expo 2014 is the first major opportunity these nine companies have had to showcase their products to international buyers and have face-to-face meetings with key players in the global retail sector. The event is one of the largest of its kind in Europe catering for all sectors of the food and drink market encompassing grocery, foodservice, wholesale, speciality retail and manufacturing.

The Taste Cork regional brand was created to support Cork’s wide range of premium food producers who share the common goal of achieving excellence through food. Cork County Council and the Cork Enterprise boards have developed a partnership approach with the local producers to develop the sector and to take on new challenges.

The nine companies taking part will have access to a fully branded, high tech exhibition stand with all of the facilities necessary to showcase their products.
