Sunday Morning Cobh Credit Union Street Leagues Come To An End
Sunday 4th of November saw the 2012 hurling street leagues finish in a welter of excitement, skill and pageantry. The U7 teams were first out and though the rain came down it didn’t dampen their spirits as they marched behind local piper Dave Griffin, proudly cheered on by their family and friends. The games were tight and after handshakes were exchanged, the players made their way into the hall where Kieran Histon did the honours in presenting the medals to all the players who took part. Next up, the U9s took the stage and the standard of hurling on show here was excellent. Again, the games were close, and at the end all players received their medal and goodies back in the hall.
A big thank you to all who helped make the leagues such a success again this year. Thank you to the parents who helped out by looking after the teams and to the referees, especially, the juvenile players who took charge of the games during the leagues; Pádí Kearney, Adam O’Donovan, Kevin Murphy, David O’Connor, Helen Maher and Shane Kidney.
Well done to all the players who took part in our Street leagues, both on Fridays and on Sundays. In total over 320 girls and boys played this year and we hope to see you all return in the New Year when the various teams start back to training. Up the Forties!!!!!
