Two good away wins for the Club again last weekend. Div 4 travelled to Church of Ireland and showed great spirit to keep the score to 0-0 for the half. Overall they were the better side and they had several chances in the second half to take the game. It was only with about ten mins to go that they sealed the win when Aoife Hart put the ball in the net much to the delight of her team.
Div 6 took on Fermoy and it was the home team who had the best of the first half. They took the game to Cobh and had some great chances to go ahead. Cobh had a couple of chances of their own but it was inevitable that Fermoy would score and they did with a well worked move involving several players. Cobh pulled themselves together at half time and came out much more determined. They attacked from the start and after about 8 mins were awarded a short corner which came to Claire Stack who passed to Cathy Renehan on the left who hit a sweet shot to the net. This spurred Cobh on and they kept the momentum going. With about ten mins remaining Claire Stack latched onto a save from the goalie to send the ball to the net and secure the 3 points for Cobh.
Next weekend see both teams travel to Limerick HC with Div 4 in the semi-final of the Cup against the league leaders and Div 6 in the league and the games are at 2pm and 3.30pm respectively. This will be no easy task for the Cobh Club as they are missing some experienced players.
