‘Lusitania 100’ lectures at Cobh Library

Cobh Library, in association with Cobh Museum, is delighted to announce a series of 3 lectures to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania. The Library Building, then the Market House, played an integral role in the aftermath of the disaster as it was the site where many of the recovered bodies were laid out to be identified.

The lectures will take place on the 7th May, 2015 in Cobh LIBRARY which is located in Casement Square.

11.00am: Giollamuire Ó Murchú – Síocháin ainm Dé/And all her paths are peace: American angels, Irish rescuers: the true story of the Lusitania Peace Memorial 1925-1968

3.00pm: Professor Angela John – A Survivor’s Story: Margaret Haig Mackworth and the Sinking of the Lusitania

4.00pm: Dr. John Borgonovo, School of History, University College Cork. – Lusitania, Cork Harbour, and the Underwater War, 1914-1918
