A Cobh resident was fined €300 and given three months to pay in Midleton court on February 9th.
On 19th November 2011, the person involved was observed by a local resident disposing of two black plastic bags of domestic rubbish on Bishop street in Cobh.
Cobh Tidy Towns wish to thank most sincerely the witness who reported this incident to the Gardai and was willing to testify in court and to the prosecuting Garda whose diligence and commitment lead to this prosecution.
Cobh Tidy Towns wish to remind the small number of people who continue to illegally dump domestic rubbish, let their dogs foul our streets and dispose of litter including cigarette butts inappropriately, that they are breaking the law and risk being prosecuted by the Gardai.
We very much regret that these actions are necessary or that some of our residents are put in the unenviable position of reporting such incidents and may have to attend as a witness in court. However this support is necessary if we are to continue to improve our town for our own as well as visitors pleasure.
