The American Shorecrest High School Marching Band are returning to Cobh on March 19th. The band of 120 musicians together with their parents and teachers will arrive in Cobh to do the Titanic Trail walking tour on the morning of Monday 19th March. They are in Ireland for a leading role in the Dublin St Patricks Day Parade and will take part in the band competition in Limerick. Our new Titanic 100 Ambassador, Dr Michael Martin has persuaded them to march through the town and play a Titanic commemorative performance on the promenade.
The group of 170 American visitors based in the State of Washington have agreed to assemble near the railway station at 1.30 that day, march through the town and finish up at the bandstand. This will be a thrilling 45 minute spectacle that can be enjoyed by everybody. After their walking tour and performance they will meet Mayor Jim Quinlan who has kindly agreed to officially welcome them here. Michael Martin said ‘they will be around town all day, in the shops, the museums, the restaurants, let’s give them a massive Cobh warm welcome’.
