While the country braces itself for a General Election, the most important one in the modern era, one person from Cobh will the flying the Irish Flag proudly when he performs the Inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Concert at the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Darragh McGann, who has been building up a huge fan base both in Ireland and America, has been invited to perform the first ever St. Patrick’s Day concert in the State Capital of Louisiana, USA.

Ever since he released his first album “A New Beginning” in 2009, Darragh has been performing concerts to packed audiences both in East Cork and more recently in America. His late uncle, Rev. John Spriggs, served as a priest in Baton Rouge and he has been there twice last year to perform both in New Orleans and Plaquemine.

Darragh has just completed recording of his new album entitled “Inside Out” which will give a true indication of the man who has been described as “The Voice from the Heart” in a recent review. The album will feature songs such as “Nella Fantasia”, “The Impossible Dream” and “Maybe Someday” which was written and composed by Liam Lawton.

Supported by “Imagine Ireland”, Tourism Ireland has thanked Darragh for been an ambassador for Ireland in Louisiana and while there, he will be giving live interviews to TV Networks NBC33 on March 3rd and WBRZ on March 17th.

Speaking to Cobh Edition, Darragh said “It’s a huge honour on any occasion to represent one’s own country, and I plan to use every opportunity possible to promote Cobh, Cork and Ireland as a tourist destination. I want to personally thank Michael Ahern TD, Minister Mary Hanafin TD, and Tourism Ireland for rowing in behind this event and now images of Ireland will be shown both on TV and also during the concert in the Manship Theatre”.

While in Louisiana, Darragh will also perform a benefit concert in New Orleans for the No Aids Task-force. He will also pay a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Baton Rouge and will then visit and perform in Schools as a way of informing children about Irish Heritage and Culture.

Darragh’s new album will be released in late April and he is currently planning a nationwide concert tour.
