Cobh Tidy Towns News – 31st July

Published

on

This Saturday, eight Tidy Towns volunteers did a variety of tasks around Cobh. The area from Costcutter on the Newtown road down the boreen towards Ballyleary was thoroughly cleaned. Eight hundred litres of water was used to water the shrubs in Carrigaloe and this is a weekly task until substantial rain comes. Many of the flower beds in the Promenade were weeded and the wall inside the central gates was almost completely repainted and looks great in dazzling white. The grass area across from Belvelly Castle was also cut.
Throughout the week the approach roads and roads in Cobh were picked daily of litter and the watering of the flower boxes and the maintenance of the Old Church Cemetery continued.
Tidy Towns volunteers meet at the Crow’s Nest at 12 noon on Mondays and at the playground on the Five Foot Way at 6.30 on Tuesdays and 10 am on Saturdays. People can of course help out at a time that suites themselves – contact Ursula on 4813581 if you needs bags or gloves.

Cobh Tidy Towns is producing the 2012 Discovering Cobh Fundraising Calendar and is looking for photographs of Cobh. If you would like your photograph to be considered for inclusion, please email it to cobhtidytowns@gmail.com. Remember we need photographs from each of the four seasons so have a look back through your pictures from the past twelve months or start snapping now!
