Cobh Tidy Towns Notes 10th Oct

This week the final spraying for 2011 of the kerbs to prevent weed growth in Cobh took place. Thanks to Jim for his dedication to keeping the weeds at bay around Cobh all year.More bulbs were planted at Cows Cross next to the Old Church Cemetery which should complete the colourful woodland approach to Cobh in 2012.The grass in large areas of the old section of the Old Church Cemetery was cut again and the Cemetery is looking pristine for visitors and families. The footpaths from the Velvet House cross to the pitches at Carrignafoy were picked of litter by Tony and his perseverance in keeping the area tidy is appreciated by all.The footpaths on Harbour Hill, the High Road and Ticknock Hill were swept of autumn leaves which not only looks tidier but is also safer for pedestrians.

Tickets are still available for the opening night of the comedy “Run for your Wife” by the Haulbowline Theatre Group on next Thursday 13th October. The proceeds for the night will go towards Cobh Tidy Towns ongoing work.

Due to the darker evenings our Tuesday work will finish until next Spring. We continue to meet at 10am on Saturdays at the playground by the Five Foot Way.
