Cobh Tidy Towns Notes 19th June

Published

on

This Saturday fifteen Tidy Towns volunteers undertook a multitude of tasks around Cobh. At the small carpark in Whitepoint the low walls and a bare fence were painted, the whole area was swept and some shrubs planted. The rest of the sloping flower bed will be planted as soon as the weeds growing there have been eliminated.

At Carrigaloe the last of the shrubs were planted and there is just one more aspect to this project to complete it! At the stone wall of the Old Church Cemetery facing the main road the dead ivy was completely removed. This wall is now looking stunning and very soon the bank will be planted to set off the wall.

At the top of Ticknock Hill a start was made on clearing the flower beds of dead foliage and weeds. This flower bed hasn’t been tended since the estate was built! In addition to this the Fota Road and other approach roads were litter picked again and the carpark at the entrance to Rushbrooke Links had two bags of litter picked from it!

Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers meet every Saturday at 10 am and Tuesday at 6.30 pm at the Playground on the Five Foot Way and always welcomes new faces.
