Cobh Tidy Towns Notes

Published

on

Despite the poor weather, Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers have done some considerable work in the past ten days.

The Fota Road and onwards to Cobh past Belvelly and Carrigaloe have been picked of litter as has Ballynoe Hill.

Eighteen Bags of rubbish were collected by the Water Towers.

Much of the bank below the “Black Railings” on the Lake Road has been cleared of overgrowth and bags upon bags of cans and bottles were collected. It is very clear that not enough is being done to enforce the Drinking in Public Places Byelaws. This area will be landscaped, but it may not be ready to plant until 2012.

On a more positive note Cobh Tidy Towns installed a cigarette butt attachment to the top of a litter bin on West Beach and this is being well used. Following repeated requests the roof of the Council Workshop on the Low Road is being painted and the former Lusitania bar has been painted and looks very well.

Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers meet every Saturday at the Five Foot Way carpark at 10 am sharp and then go to various areas. Contact Ursula Duffy for further information on 085 1668271.
