Cobh Tidy Towns Take Home National Silver

Published

on

Once again, the dedicated team involved in Cobh Tidy Towns have received National recognition in their category (Large Town) by being awarded ‘Silver’ in the SuperValu sponsored ‘Ireland’s Tidiest Town’ competition. This years scoop tops the Bronze award received by the group in 2011. It’s quite evident from reading the adjudication reports and markings that the Cobh group have performed excellently in their efforts to bring home an award for the second year running. Also evident are the constant sightings of Hi-Viz vested volunteers on the streets of Cobh at all hours of any day during any week which clearly demonstrates how much a clean and green town means to all those involved. Everyone should take note of this wonderful achievement by a small group from a very highly populated town and then sit back and think, if every time the group met up there were 100 volunteers ready and willing, the amount of work they could then take on!

Abbeyshrule, Co. Longford was announced as the winner of the SuperValu TidyTowns Award for 2012, from among a record level of 855 entries. Abbeyshrule also claimed the award for Ireland’s Tidiest Village. Other winners included Clonakilty, Co. Cork which received the award for Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town, Westport, Co. Mayo which received the award of Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town, and Ennis, Co. Clare which was named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre,
