Under 19s Win Away
The Under 19s recorded another win away from home on Sunday 19th February. They travelled to Mayfield where the match was played on the all-weather pitch.
With 15 minutes of the game gone Mayfield scored a deserved opening goal. Mayfield controlled the game from the start & had missed a few half chances previous to the goal.
The goal had the effect of waking up the Wanderers side who began to close down the Mayfield players at last & started to put together some good passing moves. Within 10 minutes Wanderers were level with a well taken gaol by Darren Cronin.
Wanderers continued to control the game up towards half time & the pressure paid off just before half time – Stephen Hurley scoring Wanderers second on 43 minutes.
Wanderers started the second half as they finished the first & Darren Cronin scored his second & Wanderers third after 10 minutes of the second half.
Wanderers continued to play well & were awarded a penalty half way through the half – Darren Cronin stepped up to try for his hat-trick. With the keeper going the wrong way the ball hit the up post & ran away to safety.
With time running out Mayfield scored a second but Wanderers ran out worthy winners.
