Daffodil Day has become a regular event on the STEP calendar in Cobh YMCA. One Friday in March the group throw open the doors to the STEP room and invite the people of Cobh in for some good old Cobh hospitality. Tea, coffee and queen cakes were on offer alongside the important things – the daffodils, badges and key rings that raise awareness and valuable money for the Irish Cancer Society.
This year, for the fourth year running the event was coordinated by Kay O’Regan of STEP. She was delighted with the effort of the young people who worked in the kitchen, serving refreshments, collecting and inviting people into the YMCA and even delivering hot drinks and cakes to the local shops throughout the morning. But it was the generosity of the people of Cobh the mattered and by the end of the morning, with money and pledges still rolling in, there was approximately ?700 raised in aid of Irish Cancer Society. It was a great day and we look forward to seeing you here in 2013!
