Culture Night is a special night each year when people are invited to come together to discover and celebrate the richness and diversity of culture in Ireland.
Culture Night is for everyone, everywhere, and is a time for people from different backgrounds to share their customs, traditions, and talents through special events, workshops, and exhibitions. These are held with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland, and local authorities and organisations.
To celebrate Culture Night 2023 on Friday September 22nd, there will be a number of talks, workshops, and exhibitions taking place in several Cork County Library Service branches.
Those Precious Memories
Friday 22nd September at 4.30pm
Cobh Animation Team is taking up residence in the Exhibition Room for the week of Culture Night with a nostalgic exhibition of costume and photos. The highlight of the exhibition is happening on Culture Night itself when they will hold a fascinating event looking at the life stories and occasions behind the clothing artefacts on display.
The event kicks off at 4.30pm in the Exhibition Room, don’t miss it!
Poet Kenneth Hickey
Friday 22nd September at 5.30pm
This Culture Night, Cobh Library welcomes local poet Ken Hickey to the library. Ken is going to treat us to a dramatic reading of his poem “Krieg” beginning at 5.30pm. The library will remain open until 6pm.
