On 29th August next, See You in Cobh is delighted to host the highly acclaimed “Dancing Thru the Ages” music and dance extravaganza in the Commodore Hotel at 8.30pm.
The staging of this production is a part of our marketing strategy to bring more overnight Cruise liner visits to our harbour town.
The potential value to the Cobh economy of Cruise liners staying overnight in Cobh is very substantial. These cruises tend to be short 3 or 4 night duration cruises originating in the UK, with mainly British passengers who tend not to take excursions, organise their own itineraries and either stay in Cobh or take the train to Cork.
The number of short break or taster cruises offered by the Cruise companies is growing, but despite the huge success that the Port of Cork is enjoying in attracting Cruise calls, Cobh is still only attracting a small number of overnight visits.
The See You in Cobh committee hopes to attract more overnight Cruise calls to Cobh by offering Cruise passengers a true taste of Irish culture, hospitality and “craic” that will complement the existing excursions being offered ashore and that can be sold to the passengers by the Cruise Lines themselves.
Dancing Thru the Ages showcases the ancestral legacy of Irish culture and tradition with an exciting contemporary one without losing the spirit and exuberance so associated with the Irish style of music and dance. This spine-tingling show has wowed audiences of all ages and all nationalities, both on a national and international level, since its inception in 2004. Capturing the essence of Irish culture, the show will captivate and excite like no other. With its eclectic mix of world class musicians, singers and dancers, this is one experience not to be missed. The show features internationally renowned singers and dancers from shows such as River Dance, Lord of the Dance and our own Caroline Fraher.
The Commodore Hotel is an ideal venue as it is just 3 minutes away from the Port of Cork Cruise Terminal and within easy access of the ship.
This showcase event is designed so that the key decision makers in companies such as Aragon Tours, Specialized Travel Services and Excursions Ireland can see the quality of this production with a view to having the show included in the excursion programme for 2011 and 2012 when the ships come to Cobh.
Tickets costing just €20 and are now available from the Commodore Hotel .
