Dirty Old Towns – COBH

Many volunteers are needed to assist with the tasks for the Dirty Old Towns RTE Television programme that will be filmed in Cobh on Easter weekend. The timetable of events is as follows, but is subject to change. People may of course take part in as many tasks as they wish.

Dirty Old Towns – COBH

Saturday 7th April

8.45am Painters gather at the wall on the Low Road for a safety briefing and instructions for the painting of the Wall Mural

9.45am Power washing and painting of poles and bollards commences by Cove Cabs office.

10.45am Volunteers gather at the small gate to the Promenade to plant flowers and shrubs in the Flower beds. This task is ideally suited to parents who wish to help with their children. This will be followed by Crab fishing and the Cobh Family Treasure Hunt.

1.45pm Volunteers gather in Whitepoint to plant the sloping bank. Immediately after the long bed inside the railings on the Cobh side of the Cross River Ferry will be planted with shrubs.

3.30pm O’Hanlon’s Horse and Cart will arrive in Town Centre and fixed in its new position.

Sunday 8th April

9.00am Painting of the Mural resumes

9.30am Windows of vacant shop premises in the Town Centre will be dressed with memorabilia and items of interest.

3.00pm All volunteers gather for a celebration party outside Cobh Heritage Centre..
