Cobh Y.M.C.A is inviting everyone to an activity and fundraising morning. The event aims to raise money for the East African famine and highlight the role of volunteers in society and within the YMCA.
The East African famine will continue to cause hunger and starvation to hundreds of thousands of people in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia until at least 2012. Whilst news bulletins move on to ‘new’ stories the same ‘old’ story continues in East Africa. The same story of hunger, malnutrition and starvation of the world’s most needy. This event seeks to help them by raising money and to keep them in the news.
This is taking place this Friday, 23rd of September from 10:00am until 1 pm in the Y.M.C.A. A morning of fun (and coffee) is guaranteed for all ages. Refreshments will be free – come and design your own cupcake! Enter the Fifa Playstation competition! or throw some darts! and if you can, donate to a worthy cause. All donations will be sent to the East Africa Appeal via the YMCA’s development charity YCare International.
National Day of Volunteering takes place the following week and to mark this event we will also be highlighting the efforts of volunteers within the organisation and recruiting for potential volunteers interested in joining. Information will be available on the day.
