The Football Association of Ireland, in conjunction with the Premier Clubs Association, has announced funding of up to €5,000 per club to assist each SSE Airtricity League club towards completing five-year strategic plans.
A total of €100,000 will be made available between the 20 clubs.
The announcement comes following a meeting between the FAI and the Premier Clubs Association – which represents all League clubs – in Tipperary ahead of the FAI Annual General Meeting and is part of ongoing discussions on the future of the League following on from the Consultation Process Report in 2015.
“Strategic Planning is a fundamental part of any business and the need for all clubs to have five-year viable strategic plans can not be underestimated,” said Fran Gavin, FAI Director of Competitions.
“We have 20 independent businesses operating in the SSE Airtricity League and they all have individual priorities and goals. The Consultation Process Report outlined the need for our clubs to have clear strategies in areas of sport, business and community.”
The funding agreed by FAI CEO John Delaney and the FAI Board all ensure the clubs complete their strategic plans over the coming months.
The FAI has been working closely with the Premier Clubs Association for the past eight months and this injection of funding was welcomed by representatives from the PCA.
This latest development is a positive way forward for both parties in the ongoing pathway of working towards the future development of the League.
