The World Police and Fire Games took place recently in Belfast with over 60 Nations participating in the games. Over 4,000 volunteers from Ireland and the UK assisted including Cobh native and staunch supporter Frank O’Brien.
Frank was one of the 100 volunteers assigned to the Medals Team with the role of collating and distributing medals throughout the 42 different sporting venues in Northern Ireland.
“For me it was an experience I will cherish for some time, the games itself were excellent and all the volunteers enjoyed every moment. My greatest pleasure was being photographed with Dame Mary Peters, Olympic Gold Medalist”. said Frank of his experience.
