Free Parking at Midleton Line and Cobh Line Commuter Railway Stations For 2013

Iarnród Éireann is delighted to announce, that it has committed to offering East Cork Commuters – Free Parking at Midleton Line and Cobh Line Commuter Railway Stations – until December 2013.
 
As and from New Years Day, Monday, 1st January 2013 until the 31st December 2013 – commuters will be able to park at Midleton, Carrigtwohill, Glounthaune and Little Island Stations – “Free of Charge”.
 
Midleton Station has 280 car spaces, Carrigtwohill Station has 200 car spaces, Glounthaune Station has 40 car spaces and Little Island Station has 70 car spaces.  
 
Following on from the “Free Parking”, offer over Christmas 2012, a decision was made to extend the “Free Parking” for a year (until December 2013) – to all existing Commuters – and in a further effort to attract more additional Commuter business to Cork’s Commuter Rail Services from East Cork.
 
Based on uptake and sales of weekly and monthly Commuter Rail Tickets, Iarnród Éireann hopes to continue the offer of “Free Parking” at Cork- Midleton / Cobh line stations beyond 2013.
 
“We invite new customers, not alone from the Midleton area, but from all over East Cork – including places like Whitegate, Killeagh, Ballycotton and Youghal etc. – to use our excellent “Park & Ride” facilities (for cars and bicycles) at Midleton, Carrigtwohill, Glounthaune and Little Island Stations. We hope to keep the new customers, who used our Commuter Rail Services from Midleton and Cobh for the first time over the Christmas period, and to attract new customers to our Commuter Rail Services from East Cork during 2013 and beyond. We would like to wish all our customers a very happy New Year and we look forward to seeing them on-board our services” – said Christy Maher, Iarnród Eireann’s District Manager in Cork.
 
42 trains a day operate the Midleton to Cork route weekdays (21 each way) and the journey time is only 23 minutes. In addition, 46 trains a day operate the Cobh to Cork route weekdays (23 each way) and the journey time is only 24 minutes. On Sundays, 24 trains operate the Cobh to Cork route (12 each way) and 16 trains operate the Midleton to Cork route (8 each way).
 
The adult weekly unlimited travel Commuter Rail Ticket from Midleton to Cork is €31.50 or just €18.20 for a Student. Family Tickets, for any two adults and up to four children under 16 years of age costs just €13.50 from Cork to Fota (entrance to Fota Wildlife Park is next to Fota Station). Monthly adult and student Commuter Rail Tickets are also available – offering huge savings on commuting by rail to Cork. The Day Return fare from Midleton to Cork is €7.90 (half fare for children under 16 years age), and €7.70 per adult Day Return from Cobh to Cork.

To make it even easier for East Cork Commuters – Iarnród Éireann also offers a One Day Rail Service Ticket – which includes Rail Travel from Midleton or Cobh to Cork and includes Cork City Bus Services for just €11.50 (for one day).
 
Customers using our Commuter Rail Services – should note there is a frequent bus service which operates to and from Kent Station, Cork (No. 205 city bus service)  to Cork City Centre. This bus also serves Washington Street, UCC, College Road (Bon Secours Hospital), Dennehy’s Cross (back entrance to C.U.H.), Model Farm Road, FAS & CIT.
 
There is also a frequent bus service from Kent Station to Cork Airport. Commuters can now commute by train to Cork and travel by bus (Route # 226) from Kent Station, Cork to Cork Airport – making it easier to get to Cork Airport and avoiding the parking charges at the Airport.
