Cobh Lions Club and URParts hosted a family fun day in Cobh Pirates Rugby Club on Sunday. The rain held off for the most part ensuring that everyone had a fun filled day.
Races took place during the afternoon which included the Egg and Spoon, 3 Legged, Sack and Relay as well as a Tug-O-War, were held on the paddock field where parents joined in the fun much to the delight of the children.
The Cobh Lion Clubs nameless mascot made his presence felt all day by playing with and being chased by the children. A competition was held to name the Lion and was won by Ms. Curley who came up with the very apt name of Covey.
M.C for the day was local vocal talent Ben Hurley who kept everyone entertained with his singing and sharp humour. The winners of the free raffle were runners up Danni Fogarty and Rian Cahill who each recieved a Rugby Ball and Helen White who won a voucher for a family trip on the Cobh Town Train.
As Johanna Fitzpatrick, Cobh Lions Club President was suffering with laryngitis Jimmy O’Brien spoke on her behalf. He thanked all the staff, volunteers, sponsors, donaters and club members who dedicated their time to make the day so successful. “It wouldn’t have happenned without the tremendous effort of everybody.” he concluded.
