Theme for 2020 Calendar, featuring the work of the Cope community, is “What Brings Us Joy”
Cope Foundation celebrated the launch of their 2020 Calendar with a visit from the cast of the Everyman’s Christmas Panto “Jack and the Beanstalk” this week. The colourful calendar, sponsored by Bluebird Care, showcases artwork by children and adults supported by Cope Foundation around the question ‘What Brings You Joy?’
Twelve pieces of art were selected from the many submissions, one for each month of the year. The result is a wonderfully colourful calendar that reminds us all about the many things that bring us all joy. Their artwork reflected answers such as; ‘Joy is dancing in the rain’, ‘Joy is summer days at the beach’ and ‘Joy is creating together’
Ailbhe Barrett whose artwork appears in the 2020 calendar, explains why she chose the title ‘Joy is creating together’. Ailbhe says ‘Art to me is about creating things together, sometimes I help teach art in schools and this brings me happiness and joy’
The calendar also includes key dates for the year and some handy gardening tips from Cope Foundation’s own Garden Centres – Beech Hill Garden Centre in Montenotte and Oaklands Garden Centre in Kanturk.
Speaking at the launch of the 2020 Calendar, Don O’Riordan, Director of Bluebird Care, Cork said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor Cope Foundation’s Calendar for 2020. It is a truly wonderful production enhanced by the fantastic artwork created by the artists in Cope Foundation. I am sure that for each one selected there were many more worthy of inclusion. I know that the Calendar will be a great success again this year and it will raise much needed funds to assist Cope Foundation to continue the great work they do every day in the community”
The calendars are on sale for just €3 across Cope Foundation centres, online at www.cope-foundation.ie/Calendar2020 and if you keep an eye out in some local shopping centres in the lead up to Christmas you might get your hands on one there. The calendar is a beautiful addition to any home or workplace and will generate much needed funds for Cope Foundation as it works to support 2,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism right across Cork city and county. Cope Foundation is one of Cork’s most loved charities and this calendar reflects the incredible stories of the people supported by the organisation
