Cobh Ramblers FC are delighted to announce the signing of John Kavanagh for the 2020 League of Ireland season.
John joins the club for a second spell, having spent the latter half of the 2017 campaign on loan at the club from Cork City, making 9 appearances.
Utilised as a defender and midfielder, John began his career at Ringmahon Rangers before moving to Cork City’s underage setup in 2011. His senior league debut came in 2013 and he racked up over 50 appearances for the club over the following seasons.
In the summer of 2017 he completed his loan move to Cobh, earning a First Division runners-up medal in the process. For the 2018 campaign he joined newly promoted Waterford on loan and remained there until summer 2018 when a loan move to Finn Harps began under Ollie Horgan. Having impressed greatly in Donegal, Harps retained John on-loan for the first half of the 2019 season before he returned to Waterford and completed that season on loan at the RSC.
He had this to say following the announcement,
“I’m delighted to be back, and I’m looking forward to getting started.
Stuart is assembling a strong group and I’m excited to be a part of it.
The last time I was here, back in 2017, we were challenging for the league title so hopefully we can do something similar this year.
A good start is important for us and we will all be working towards that over the next few weeks.”
John brings to 15 the number of current senior Ramblers players confirmed, with further announcements due shortly.
