Keep It Local says Mayor Quinlan
As Christmas draws near we will all be planning our Christmas shopping and socialising. It is a time for going out for festive drinks and dinners, hosting house parties and buying gifts for friends and family. All of this will require venturing out to shops to spend our hard earned money. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage shopping local this Christmas. In the current economic climate businesses everywhere are under pressure to keep their doors open and to remain profitable. Our local businesses are no different in this regard and it is important that, where ever possible, when shopping or socialising, we support local business this Christmas.
Also, Cobh Town Council, the Cobh and Harbour Chamber and the Top of the Hill Christmas Lights Committee have come together to light up our town this Christmas. We intend to continue in this spirit of unity and cooperation in future years and I would like to encourage everyone to support any fundraising efforts for the Christmas lights that they encounter over the coming weeks.
The lights will be turned on at the Christmas tree at 5.30pm on Saturday 3 December and there will be festive activity all that afternoon in the company of Santa Claus himself!
Finally, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas season, and a healthy and happy New Year.
Kind regards,
Cllr. Jim Quinlan, Mayor of Cobh.
