Live On Spike 2011 – Saturday 3rd September

Published

on

Having fallen foul of the dreadful August weather at the start of this month, LIVE ON SPIKE has a new date confirmed – Saturday 3rd September.  The cream of Cork music talent will perform in this distinctly unique Cork setting. This will be the first major music event on Spike Island, which was handed over to Cork County Council from the government last year. All the performers are generously giving their time for free to help put Spike on the music map, and to realise Spike’s potential as an iconic venue and visitor attraction.
Back to headline the re-scheduled show are Cork’s favourite music sons, The Frank and Walters, and singer-songwriter/ piano combo Ken Cotter & Mark Slade. Fresh Indie rockers Dead School, and Cobh chanteuse Cookie are re-confirmed on the bill. Joining them on the programme will be singer-songwriter Aine Whelan and Cobh guitar outfit, The Empire Lights.
The show will start at midday and run throughout the afternoon. Ferries will leave Kennedy Pier at 11am sharp and begin returning from Spike at 6pm. Tickets for the original date are valid for the new date. Tickets will be available in Cobh from the Kiosk on Kennedy Pier, and from The Cobh Heritage Centre. Tickets also available in Cork City from Union Chandlery on Penrose Quay or online @ www.tickets.ie (online booking fee applies).
