A total of 150 pupils from St. Mary’s, with their teachers, attended the various ceremonies commemorating the Lusitania sinking. 5th and 6th classes went to the memorial Mass at 10.00 am, 6th class went to the wreath-laying in the Old Church Cemetery and 3rd and 4th classes viewed the President and the ceremonies taking place down town.
Younger children completed related projects and activities organised by their teachers. The minute’s silence was also observed. As Principal, I am very pleased to say that several visitors commented on our pupils’ attendance and on the reverence and respect they showed at each of the events. We are very proud of them as, I’m sure, are their parents and families.
