Sinn Féin’s spokesperson for Heritage and Tourism and TD for Cork East, Sandra McLellan, has welcomed An Bord Pleanála’s decision to refuse planning permission to Indaver Ireland to build a toxic waste incinerator at Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.
Speaking today after the announcement of the decision Deputy McLellan said: “Today’s decision comes as a great relief to those groups who have spent the last 10 years campaigning against this project. They deserve great credit for their tireless efforts. As a result of their endeavours the health of tens of thousands of people in the surrounding area have been protected. The argument has always been made that safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly options were available. This opinion has now been endorsed.”
