fotaislandlargeThere’s no need to take the high road to Scotland when you can experience The Open in a major way at Fota Island Resort! After the success of their version of the Augusta experience during the Masters, and the Pennsylvania theme during the US Open, Fota Island Resort has introduced another great themed series of events to coincide with the next Majors Championship.

Based on the same winning formula that saw Fota Island Golf Club channeling a little bit of Georgia during Masters Week, and guests enjoying Philly cheesesteaks during the US Open, this time it’s deliciously authentic après golf cooking, appropriate to the Scottish theme to celebrate the 142nd Open Championship in Muirfield, Scotland, from 18th July – 21st July!

Open Singles competitions will be held to link with the Open Championship in Scotland, so take inspiration from the professionals during one of the world?s most iconic and enjoyable golf tournaments, and take to the Deerpark, the Belvelly or the Barryscourt to try and emulate those sporting legends busy making history on the golf course at Muirfield! You may not get to take home the Claret Jug, but the cost to enter each Open Singles competition is just €35 per golfer, and you could take home a set of TaylorMade irons, as the winner of each event will then be entered into a play-off to win that substantial prize.

When your golfing day is done you can continue the authentic professional experience in the Spike Bar too, where some serious themed cooking will be on offer, focusing on Scotland, with kippers with sautéed curly kale and creamed potatoes, Scotch pie with rumbledethumps and cranachan for afters, to be indulged in over the Open Championship weekend.

Who needs to leave the country to go to the Majors? Fota Island Resort champion menus and Open Singles competitions mean everyone’s a winner!
