Reading all the comments about the condition of the Tay Road I would like to tell you about the game of PASS THE BUCK which I played today trying to get some answers to this continuing problem. Firstly I telephoned Cobh Town Council, to be told that the problem lay with the County Council so I rang them and and was told that they have had numerous complaints and had passed them on to the ESB(the body responsible for leaving the road in such a dangerous condition).
I tried rang the ESB without success. Feeling I was getting nowhere I then rang the car Tax Office where i spoke to a manager, asking him why I should pay road tax to drive on such a dangerous road and he informed me that it was not their responsibility either. In desperation I then rang the Minister for the Environment’s office who advised me to ring the department of Communications, Energy and Resources who then advised me to get back on to the ESB.
Now after approximately three hours and a mounting phone bill I am right back where I started and the buck is still being passed. In the meantime, us residents of the Tay Road will be waiting for some accident to happen and when it does what will the responsible bodies do? Why, they will PASS THE BUCK of course. It’s no wonder our country is in such a sorry state.
