It was a busy night at St.Colman’s Park tonight for the Cobh Ramblers Ladies Team. At 7.00pm they lined up to face a Douglas Hall side in the Cork Ladies League but unfortunately went down to a single goal over the ninety minutes. Later, at 9.00pm in the Ramblers Clubhouse, the entire ladies side, Committee Members and guests gathered to launch details of the upcoming fundraising Golf Classic to be held at the Cobh Golf Club on Friday 18th June. All present were treated to a lavish spread and refreshments.
Ladies committee member Pat Burn’s took charge of the ceremonies and got underway by thanking all in attendance before giving a brief history of the Ladies Team developement since it’s humble beginnings fourteen years ago. Special note was made of the first set of kit that the team wore all those years ago, which was donated by Ray Keating, who still supports the team to this day. Pat also gave a big tribute to Jerry Harrington of Cobh Motor Mart who have been the teams loyal sponsors for the past few years and who, even in the current disasterous climate we find ourselves in, remains the ladies main sponsor. Cobh Credit Union and T.O’Sheas Coals were also thanked for their continued support.
Also in attendance this evening was Cork Ladies League Chairman Chris O’Mahony who wasted no time prasing the Cobh Ramblers Ladies Team & Committee for their efforts over the years. Pat Feen of Cobh Golf Club made a passionate plea to the ladies team to get out there and drum up support for this Golf Classic and assured the ladies that the Golf Club is 100% behind them and will do all in it’s power to ensure a very successful event.
The Golf Classic with take place at Cobh Golf Club on Friday June 18th. It will cost €90.00 per team and €60.00 per Senior Team. The First Tee is 11.00am, with the Last Tee at 2.30pm. All Societies are welcome. The Prize Giving will take place later that same evening at the Cobh Ramblers FC Clubhouse at 9.00pm.
