Cork based visual artist, Bernadette Cotter, known for her visually beautiful and deeply moving work has created this two part installation especially for Sirius Arts Centre. Cotter explores the themes of emigration
and domestic religious heritage, using simple found objects and everyday materials she creates complex installations that resonate with personal histories.

The exhibition is made up of two installations: “Skin to Air” is concerned with thoughts about the one and the many, the individual connected to others, while at the same time remaining separate from them. The Edge of Absence will included a performance by the artist which takes place during the opening reception, the work involves shards of broken glass onto which are engraved fragments of poems by Eavan Boland (Ireland), Mary Oliver(US) and Adrienne Rich(US) which are overseen by the artist’s other creations included in the gallery .
