A ceremony will be held in the Promenade in Cobh on Monday 11th July to commemorate the first time that the Irish Tricolour was raised on Spike Island in 1938 as a result of the Treaty Ports handover. The Irish flags will be raised simultaneouly in Cobh and on Spike Island as the bells of St. Colman’s Cathedral ring at 8 pm.
