trijailCobh Triathlon Club will be holding their second Spike Island Jailbreak Triathlon, on Sunday the 4th August, starting at 14.30. Again this year, we will have two events, a Sprint distance which will begin with a swim from the bridge at Whitepoint, and an Olympic distance which will see athletes swimming across the harbour from Spike Island. Both events are still open for entries. Entries are also available for relay teams. If you are interested in completing one leg of the course and you are looking for others to form a relay team, please contact Anne at anne.hennessy@vitaeconsulting.com. You can enter the event on www.corktriathlon.com.

Cobh Triathlon Club would like to thank the people and businesses of Cobh for their continued and generous support of this event.  Again this year we have received fantastic support from our main sponsors Keatings Londis Plus and the Commodore Hotel. We have also received support from the Port of Cork, local Gardaí, Cobh Town Council, Marine Transport, Cross River Ferry, Red Cross, Cove Sailing Club, BMC stores, Cuskinny Court and Coral Leisure Centre. Vincent O Rourke will provide the commentary and music during the race. Prize giving and after party will be held in the Commodore Hotel. This year, we will have both overall and age category prizes.

An event like this cannot take place without the support of the local people and the generosity of volunteers and sponsors. Stewards will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable course for athletes. If you would like to steward for the event please contact Terry at tjmurphy01@gmail.com Goody bags will be provided for all volunteers.

Please note that there will be traffic restrictions on the day, particularly around the cycle course, which can be viewed on the Cork triathlon website.
Following the success from last year’s triathlon, we are expecting over 400 triathletes to arrive to our town. This event will be a fantastic spectacle and we are encouraging everyone to come down to cheer on the athletes!
