Gary Comerford 15 Premier
Ballincollig 2 Springfield Ramblers 1

Springfield Ramblers U15 team were beaten two one by a very good Ballincollig team. Ramblers started well as Adam Horgan went through on goal and hit a powerful shot that just missed at the far post. Ballincollig scored a great goal with a good shot inside the penalty box giving Dave Coffey no chance. Both teams tried to get the ball down and play football but the pitch was very heavy and in poor condition.

In the second half Ramblers wasted some good chances and ended up giving away a penalty which Ballincollig converted to go two up. Adam Horgan scored a fine goal near the end but in truth it was too late. Ballincollig deserved to win the match as they were more determined and more committed.
Best for Cobh were Conor Hughes, Barry Chandler and Dave Coffey.

Umbro 12 Division 4
Bandon 6 Springfield Ramblers B 2

Springfield Ramblers U12 B travelled to Bandon and contested in an excellent game of football even though they were at the wrong end of a 6 – 2 score-line. The score-line is not a true reflection on the game. After conceding 3 soft goals early in the first half the lads rolled up their sleeves and got back in the game with 2 excellently taken goals from Cian Doherty and Brad Stapleton. Pressing for the equaliser early in the 2nd half Ramblers got caught on the break with Bandon capitalizing to increase the score to 4 – 2. Numerous chances were then squandered before Bandon got 2 goals in the dying moments of the game. Good performances for Springfield Ramblers from Evan O’Leary and man of the match left wing-back Rowland Nsubusamu.

Umbro 14 Division 5
Cobh Ramblers 4 Richmond 0

A comfortable win saw Cobh pick up another 3 points. Goalscorers were Darren McKevitt, Conor Mansworth, Ciarán Leahy and Peter Dennis. There was an excellent defensive display again from our back four. Well done lads.

Springfield Ramblers 3 Kilreen Celtic 2

This was a very hard fought win in very difficult playing conditions. Springfield Ramblers went one up early in the 1st half through a nicely finished move from Nathan O’Connell. The ball was intercepted in our defence by Cian O’Rourke who played a nice ball to Cian Walker who turned and measured a perfect pass for Nathan to run on to and Nathan calmly slotted the ball home passed the onrushing keeper.
The 1st half was completely dominated by Springfield Ramblers who really should have had at least another two goals before conceding a penalty with ten minutes to go to half time.

Kilreen equalised from the spot kick. Ramblers then retook the lead with a great individual effort from Diarmuid Kearney who after making a great run up the left wing cut inside beating four players, flicked the ball up, and stuck it in the top corner of the net.
The weather changed dramatically at half time with a strong wind and driving rain blowing into the lads faces for the duration of the 2nd half. Kilreen came out strong after the break and taking advantage of the conditions pushed on and got another equaliser. Springfield Ramblers continued to take the game to Kilreen and finally got the deserved winner with 4 mins to go through Eoin Kelly, after coming close a number of times before that.

Umbro 12 Division 1
Riverstown 3 Springfield Ramblers A 2

In terrible conditions Springfield Ramblers went a goal up through a neat finish from Jamie Kelly. Riverstown fought back well to equalise before the break. Springfield fought back and went in front again through a cool finish by Brian Danaj but just couldn’t hold on to the lead. With the game at two each Springers played the better football and should have finished the game off but it wasn’t to be as Riverstown scored the third with about seven minutes left. Springers to their credit kept playing good attacking football and had they had any luck in front of goal could have got all three points. A good game of football in terrible conditions by both teams was assisted by the referee who kept the game flowing was enjoyed by all in attendance. Best for Springfield were Emeka in midfield, Adam Stanton in goal and Alex McCarthy up front, even though the whole team should be proud of the way they played.

Umbro 14 Division 1
Fermoy v Springfield Ramblers

Springfield Ramblers travelled to Fermoy and had a fantastic 2-1 win with goals coming from Jack Mac. In a very good team effort Dylan Higgins and Robert O’Connor were outstanding.

Umbro 16 Premier
Springfield Ramblers 5 Leeds 2

Scorers: Rob Hughes with four and Sean Richardson. This game was a top of the table thriller. With the home team leading 3-0 at half time and having played the opposition off the pitch they were prepared for a battle in the 2nd half. Leeds did put it up to the home team and the lads showed superb form to go 5-1 up before a late goal from Leeds. It’s still early days but a very important win in a very competitive league. Well done to all the squad on a brilliant display and especially Rob Hughes with his four special goals.

FAI U17 Cup 2nd Round
Mayfield United 0 Springfield Ramblers 5

Having drawn the league leaders on their home patch Springfield Ramblers knew they would need all players to play to their potential to progress. Springfield Ramblers started fast and with Kelvin Lynch and Man of the Match James Stoat controlling midfield chances were created and hat trick hero John Kennedy was unlucky with a shot from outside the Box. With Tim Fannon and Shane Marshall proving width and pace down the flanks Springfield Ramblers forced a number of corners and took the lead when Danny Barry’s cross was well finished by the alert Kennedy. Mayfield did not have time to settle when Gary Stack fed John Kennedy who beat his marker and finished with a well struck shot into the far corner. When the home team did threaten the defence marshalled by Adam Devlin and Sean McLoughlin dealt with them.

As the second half started all knew that the next goal was important and when James Stoat was fouled out on the right Danny Barry’s excellent free was crashed home by Steve Horgan. As the game progressed Ray Murphy’s excellent positional play stopped Mayfield as they tried to rescue the Game. Springfield Ramblers secured the game when Stoat cut through the home defence and set up Adam O’Sullivan to score. The fifth came when Steve O’Leary played John Kennedy through to complete his Hat-Trick.

Best Wishes To Peter
