Springfield Ramblers fully deserved to advance to the last 16 of the National Cup with a great team performance. With captain Cathal O Hanlon leading from the back each Springfield Ramblers player won the personal battle with his Bansha opponent. Level after 15 mins Springfield Ramblers were unlucky not to score when Adam Devlin’s (uncle Joe) shot from 20 yards grazed the crossbar. With Michael Meaney leading the line with great energy and causing the home defence endless problems Springfield Ramblers continued to dominate. When Bansha did threaten, the defence marshalled by Sean McLoughlin dealt with any threats. From a Bansha corner an excellent tackle by Dean Keating fed the ball to James Stoat, James’s through ball slit the home defence and set Michael Meaney free to finish into the far corner of the net. With George Gill dominating midfield Springfield Ramblers ended the first half leading 1-0.
The home team started the second half putting pressure on Springfield Ramblers but both Stephen Horgan and Tim Fannin cut out any danger with excellent performances. When Bansha did breach the Springfield Ramblers defence Cathal O Hanlon cut out any danger. As the second half progressed Springfield Ramblers wide players Daniel Barry and Shane Marshall started to create chances and with James Stoat pulling the strings in the number 10 role Springfield Ramblers scored their second goal. When James Stoat switched the ball to the right Shane Marshall cut inside the full back and beat the keeper with a super strike. Shortly after Springfield Ramblers were 3 up when Adam Devlin’s great through ball set up Daniel Barry to score. As the game progressed substitutes James O’Carroll, Jamie Britton and Jamie McCarthy were unlucky not to add to the score sheet. As for Man of the Match it was hard to separate Michael Meaney; George Gill, Stephen Horgan and Sean McLoughlin so we will award it to and excellent team performance. In conclusion Springfield Ramblers would like to thank the Bansha club for their hospitality after the game.

Springfield Ramblers v Avondale
This was a very close game where the home side had loads of chances to get something form the game. There was an outstanding performance from Jamie Kelly and he deserved the man of the match accolade.
