Gary Comerford 15 Premier
Corinthian Boys 1 Springfield Ramblers 4

Hoggy On Fire

A lovely sunny morning up in Corinthians Park provided one of the games of the season. Last year Champions of last year Corinthians went a goal up after ten minutes and then went on to dominate the opening thirty minutes. The back five of Coffey, Doyle, Sullivan, Carroll, and Abbott then started to push up the pitch and provided the platform to get back into the game.
Adam Horgan scored another goal of the season contender when he scored from 30 yards out near the touchline. Just before half time Horgan went on a solo run where he beat three players and finished superbly to put Rams two one up at half time.
The midfield of Hughes, Hilliard and Fleming put in a lot of good work which allowed the forwards Ahern, Darcy and Horgan to be a constant thorn in the Corinthians defence.
Chandler and O’Connor came on in the second half and also put in a great shift. The highlight of the game was Adam Horgan who went on to score another two goals and finish the game with four goals. The game was played in a great spirit and both teams deserve credit for the way they both passed the ball on the ground. Springfield Ramblers went on to win by four goals to one. This was a good hard working team performance by a very improving team.

Umbro 12 Division 4
Passage United v Springfield Ramblers B

Springfield Ramblers were beaten in this local derby by a strong Passage side. The Cobh lads did not have the best of starts and were behind after a minute.  It was an uphill battle from here and the Cobh lads knuckled down and scored through Cian Doherty.  Great displays from Marc Jones, Killian O’Connell and
Ger Devlin.

Umbro 14 Division 5
Cobh Ramblers 9 Carrigaline United B 0

Girls U-14
Springfield Ramblers 4 Blarney 0

This was a great team performance from the girls, built on an outstanding display from a back five of Ann-Marie Kennealy, Grace Farnan, Jasmin Murphy, Inga Kowalazyk and Caitlin Mulcahy. A tireless midfield of  Shanice Moussa, Kadi Cronin, Kate Hayes and Louise Burke provided the chances which Danielle Hayes (3) and Ava Stapleton finished superbly. Emily Keating, Leigh Tarrant, Amy Burns and Megan Belle came off the bench and put in great performances.

Sunday 7th October

Umbro 12 Premier
Innishvilla 2 Springfield Ramblers 9

This was a great team performance with an outstanding contribution from Ciaran Collins at right back who made a great overlapping run scoring the 1st of the 9 goals. Other goal scorers were Ciaran Griffin (4), Nathan O’Connell (1), Eoin Kelly (1), Mikey Foley (1) and a deflected shot from Mikey Foley resulting in an own goal.

Umbro 12 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers A 1 Midleton 2

Again this young Springfield Ramblers team were very unlucky in what was a very entertaining game. A couple of mistakes at the back gave Midleton a two goal lead, which they defended very well and deserved it going into the break. After the break it was a completely different home side, who dominated the whole second half and would have got the three points only for some good goalkeeping from the Midleton keeper. Springer’s goal came from Alex McCarthy who steered the ball into the net after a great run down the right hand side by Tobi Oshikja. All the team should be proud of their display in the second half and that elusive win isn’t far away. Best for Springers was Edward O’Mathuna who gave a towering display at centre back.

Umbro 14 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers 3 Ringmahon Rangers 2

Springfield Ramblers Under 14s had a good if not a lucky win over Ringmahon Rangers last Sunday. Leading 2-0 at half time following goals from Jack Mac and Sean O’Reilly; sloppy play and poor concentration gave Rangers 2 soft goals. Sean 0 Reilly got Springfield Ramblers third and his second with a bullet header following great approach work from Odhran Power. Best on the day were Sean O’Reilly, Rob O’Connor and Eoin ‘The Hog’ Meaney.

Umbro 16 Premier
Rockmount 1 Springfield Ramblers 2

Springfield Ramblers goals were scored by Jordan Tarrant Lowry and Sean Richardson. This was an outstanding all round team performance.

FAI Under 17 Cup 1st Round
Springfield Ramblers 3 Rockmount 1

In a revisit of last week’s fixture Springfield Ramblers set out against Rockmount but this game had more importance as it was a National Cup game. Rockmount started out as the stronger side but Springfield handled the pressure early on. However after giving away a few bad corners they went one down. Heads dropped and they didn’t see much of the Rockmount half early on. Near the end of the half Danny Barry and Shane Marshall started to push the boys forward, both creating chances and making strong runs but none were converted.
They continued this strong play at the beginning of the second with James Stoat making a big impact in the game, closing down players and creating chances for others. The game became frustrating as numerous shots went shy of the goal and it looked like it just wasn’t their day. This changed when Danny Barry headed the ball home at the far post to level the game. From here on the boys dominated and resulted in two more goals one from John Kennedy and another from man of the match Danny Barry. It was certainly a game of two halves but the boys came through when it mattered. Although no subs were used the coaches would like to thank both Kevin O’Callaghan and Ben Rassmussan for playing up with the team after their own match earlier in the day. Best on the day Danny Barry, James Stoat, Sean McLoughlin and Steve Horgan.
