On Saturday the Road sweeper was very efficiently used because it was accompanied by two
leafblowers that ensured that the footpaths as well as the road was cleaned. Areas cleaned were Small’s Well, Top of the Hill, Orelia Terrace,Ahern’s Place, Park Road,Spy Hill, West View, Laundry Hill to Cobh Hospital, Ticknock to Cow’s Cross both sides, Old Church, Harbour View ,Belvelly Bridge and from the Rushbrooke Hotel to the Cross River Ferry. It cost €700 for 7 hours and has really made a difference.
Volunteers continued painting around town. More railings at Whitepoint were painted black. Bollards and lamp posts in Westbourne Place ,Lake Road and Casement Square were painted. Thanks to all in the newly opened “Mojoes Coffee House” on Casement Square for the delicious coffee which was brought out to some of our volunteers.2 bags of bottles and cans were cleaned from the Burma Steps and litter was gathered around Newtown. The hoarding of the derelict buildings on Harbour Hill was painted. During the week the flower tubs were placed on the fences at Ticknock Hill as part of “Colour the Hill”.This will be a beautiful welcome to Cobh as they begin to bloom.Thank you to everybody who helped out this week. The closing date for the 2012 Cobh Tidy Districts is the 1st of June. Please get your entry form from Cobh Credit Union or Cobh Town Council and enter your garden, flowering basket, estate, business or neighbourhood. Join us at the playground by the Five Foot Way on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm or Saturday mornings at 10am if you would like to help out.
