Super Saturday for Cobh Tidy Towns

Published

on

Trojan work was done on Saturday 28th May by fourteen Cobh Tidy Town volunteers at Carrigaloe. With two teams of people in place(some from 8am!!), the footpaths were swept of dead leaves and other dead foliage and the kerbs were cleaned of packed earth, rubble and debris. The forceful wind didn’t make the sweeping an easy job but people stuck with the job right into the afternoon.Thank you all for your hard work.

At the other end of Carriagloe more tremendous work was carried out. The long stone wall was cleaned of all dead plant material – this has been a work in progress since last Autumn with repeated spraying to kill briars and wild clematis. This area has now been planted with Pampas grass, Hydrangea and creeping perennials. Over 15 tonne of stone was also spread on the Cresent area just before the bridge and the finishing touches to our seaside garden will be completed next Saturday.
