ARAN Urges the People of the Rebel County to Come Out in Force

Cork —This Sunday the Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) will take to the streets in Cork for a peaceful rally against cruelty to animals and to call for further convictions and jail sentences for offenders of animal abuse considering that so far this year just two people were convicted. The rally will also call for an end to greyhound racing, puppy farms, animals used in circuses, hare coursing and other pressing Irish animal issues.

When: Sunday, October 23, 2pm sharp (for the public and 2.45pm for the media)
Where: Grand Parade Plaza, Cork

“Ireland is a haven for those who get sick kicks off abusing and exploiting animals,” says ARAN’s John Carmody. “Our new laws are not being used the way they should, and untold amounts of violence towards animals in all areas of Irish society are going unnoticed and unchallenged. There’s just a handful of Irish TD’s who are supportive and proactive on animal protection measures which is indicative of the need for a change in mindset and views on animal abuse and use. Just two shabby convictions this year out of the hundreds of cruelty cases, it’s just not acceptable anymore. We plead with the people of the rebel county to come out in their thousands this Sunday to help make the hurt stop.”
