Tidy Towns blacken the promenade

On Saturday, ten volunteers started painting the seaside railings in the Promenade. These railings are severely corroded and in many places look more white than black. In the past week John Walsh of Cobh Powerwashing services sand blasted the aluminium cast sections and these were painted with a specialised primer paint.
The cost of the sandblasting and the paint is being bourne by Cobh Town Council. Picture 1 shows the extreme corrosion on the die cast aluminium sections Picture 4 shows an unpainted section in the forground and a painted section in the background
