TITANIC PIER ACCESS
There has been some confusion around the proposed Titanic Pier that recently was granted Planning Permission by County Council. In order to clarify the confusion, this accurate graphic impression depicts the exact location of the new kiosk, which will provide access to the park. There have been a number of different drawings circulated, which could be misleading, but this is the approved and accurate version of the kiosk.
With regard to the impact on the public park and promenade, it should be noted that the total park area in Cobh of 3980sq m and of that the area, less than 1% will be used for the Titanic Pier access (37sq m).
The access to the Titanic Pier will remain in public hands, as the park is owned by the people of Cobh and managed by Cork County Council. There will be no negative impact on the park in terms of amenities, ability to host the Jailbreak Triathlon or other park events. The Park will continue to be for the people of Cobh to enjoy.
A stunning new pedestrian walkway and viewing platform over the existing Titanic Pier and associated conservation work to the original pier structure has been granted planning permission. This structure will add enormously to the attraction of Cork as a destination and provide wonderful photo opportunities that will undoubtedly be shared on social media showcasing the stunning harbour, heritage and history of Cobh.
