White Collar Boxing turns Red for Big Heart Fight Night in Cork

On Friday 8th March 2013, 30 brave hearted men and women, including Cobh’s Claire O’Brien, will take to the ring in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork for the ultimate challenge and raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation.
Over the past 8 weeks participants have been trained to become boxers by volunteers from Rylane Boxing Club and will stepped into the Olympic sized boxing ring in the convention centre for 15 three round bouts The show featured 4 women fights and 11 men fights with each boxer giving it their all over the three rounds. Elaborate entrances and light shows for each of the fighters will add to the entertaining show.
“The idea of stepping into a boxing ring for most people is beyond their comfort zone and this is what makes it such an exciting challenge.” said participant Claire O’Brien “Many of us have been affected by or lost someone to heart disease or stroke.We know the money we raise will go fighting these illnesses.”
Each of the participants have been asked to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship, which covers the running of the night and a contribution towards the Irish Heart Foundation.
